This past weekend I had a stretch of games where everything went right – the kind of games where the K/D is highly positive and everything is going according to plan … the plan being to rock at Halo.
Enter Onyx: Jack of All Trades – this popped up in what turned out to the last game in that sweet run, but it happened on an assassination so the moment lasted as long as it could.
Part of the discussion on recent podcasts (both Dust & Echoes and Modcast) has centered around commendations (or their equivalent in other games) and if they are a good thing for gaming in general. “Does that fact that some people value the medals more than the act to get the medals matter?” is the question.
For me I enjoy getting medals or commendations on Halo because looking at them reminds me of all the great times I’ve had; they’re like a picture. While capturing all these moments in Theater mode would be ideal, the time it takes to do that would be pretty steep.
Commendations/medals let me have a snap shot of all the good times I’ve had, and I’m thankful for that.
