Tomorrow I’m privileged to take part in one of the most celebrated rituals in all of gaming, the LAN party.
I use the term “rituals” for effect as the LAN party has (unfortunately) failed to be “an act or series of acts regularly repeated in a set precise manner” in my life for a while now.
And while I could fall into the trap of nostalgically looking back to the days when I had more hours in the day than things to do, I resist that urge and look forward – forward to tomorrow night where several things will take place:
- Work will be left early
- Halo 4 will be played. And played. And PLAYED
- The Halo 4 campaign will be conquered of Co-Op Legendary, with our group experiencing the story for the first time
- Pizza will be ordered
- Dominion will be played
- Did I mention we’ll be playing a lot of Halo 4?
- Due to the nature of good times, time will mysteriously speed up and the good times will be over far too soon
I’ve been looking forward to this almost as much as Halo 4 itself. The crew I’ll be playing with in person has built great memories around Halo since the Combat Evolved days, and tomorrow will doubtless be another 15+ Perfection on the medal board of life.
Past LANs have been great. Tomorrow will rock!
