I think it’s safe to say by now… it’s the Ur-Didact. Severely distorted by his experiences in HALO SILENTIUM!
This was the response of Greg Bear to the question of who exactly were we fighting in Halo 4, and it was nice to have it clarified.
Now the questions start rolling in – what happens to the Ur-Didact to bring him to this current state of hatred for humanity? How will the story told in the Halo 4 terminals fit into what Silentium has to tell us? Was the Librarian’s hair a result of her last mutation, and did the Ur-Didact approve? If not, was that what really drove them apart?
