King Lear (an Amazon production) was ultimately less than what I wanted it to be, but that’s not the play’s fault – it’s my own.
The pacing moves quick and there is gravitas to the dialogue, but this being my first exposure to King Lear meant I couldn’t keep up.
I found myself getting lost in the soliloquies the longer the show went on. The acting and set locations were great, but I felt this was best viewed by someone who wasn’t a novice to the material.
And that ending – right when I needed to have the full impact of what was going on, I missed it.
