Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

First seeing it with my wife on Christmas Eve of last year and for a third time in theaters on January 16th of 2020, I’ve given Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker it’s due.

“Due” in this case is seeing it multiple times in the theater, giving it a chance to sink in, and to think through how the film operates on its own merits.

I have many thoughts, but for this post we’ll keep it short and sweet: I felt like everyone involved in the movie (including the audience) breathed a big sigh of relief when the credits rolled.

Now we can move on. Now we can do our own thing. Now we can take this thing called “Star Wars” and make it something malleable.

In other news I’ve thoroughly enjoyed The Mandalorian.
