A little over a year ago I was able to do something that I’d been looking forward to for a long time – share Star Wars with my children.
If you’re a parent you know you only have a few precious years to teach your kids that what you think is cool is cool, so you’ve got to get on it. If you’re not a parent, consider this a head’s up!
I did not see A New Hope until I was either 11 or 12, and compared to my peers I was late to the game. I had planned on waiting until that age for my kids as well, but my wife (sage that she is) helped me see that it was time.
They can take that step now, sooner than I did, because we’re taking it together.
And there are so many more steps to take! I remember when my Dad took me to see The Phantom Menace (1999) and I was thinking, “Wow! Seeing Star Wars in the theater – what a unique experience!” Not so much anymore, but I’m glad for that.
By now we’ve watched The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, so the original trilogy is complete.
Looking forward to the adventures to come!
We watched A New Hope as a family on either 2/4, 2/3 or 2/4 of 2015.
